My journey along the path of songwriting began in 2001 as a result of a chance encounter on a tennis court with a professional pianist, arranger and composer.
In my younger years I developed my skills on the clarinet, having originally abandoned the piano at 12. At 30 however, I was drawn back to the piano playing and recording instrumentals, my own compositions purely as a hobby. It was later following the fortuitous meeting above that I was introduced into the world of songwriting.
Much of my music is romantic in style with it frequently being likened to film music due to its often lush, cinematic orchestrations. The songs are keyboard based and melodic and have been described as "beautiful haunting vocals and music" the vocals as "heavenly and ethereal".
My lyrics cover a broad spectrum of subject matter. I may write about a personal encounter one day and another day an issue I feel strongly about. Inspiration can come from a view from the window, a personal experience or a book title. My aim increasingly though is to write songs that people can relate to or identify with and which inspire.
Originally starting out solely as a songwriter, for both music and lyrics, I do now as a result of encouragement from those within the industry, sing my own songs. Recent performances include 2 half hour sets, 16 songs in total at the launch gig of my mini album in June. I have also recently completed a couple of short film scores for two student films.
